A type specimen, in typography, is a presentation of a typeface to showcase its design and use.
I created this type specimen in my Intro to Typography class as part of my Visual Arts minor at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts. This first piece, below, is a poster. I had a lot of fun creating this one. I love how the huge letters came together, and how all the type aligns nicely around the giant lettering. The second piece is a single page which showcases how the typeface’s letters, numbers and symbols look in paragraph form on a single piece of paper. The third piece is an iPad presentation, giving a little bit of background and information on the typeface as well as showing how it can be used decoratively and strategically.
